Tony’s Top Tip

So you’ve decided to buy a new carpet and are concerned that you have a black line around the edges of your existing carpet. Don’t worry, this isn’t due to lack of maintenance on your part, it’s probably because you have a gap under your skirting board; this creates a draught which draws the dust, thus creating the dark lines.

How to Fix the Problem

So, when you take your old carpet up, all you need to do is to obtain a tube of silicon sealant and pipe this into the gap with a sealant gun, (ensuring that you smooth it level with the skirting so as to not let it bulge and cause issues with close fitting your new carpet). Hopefully, your new carpet won’t suffer from the same problem.
