These can be used to create made-to-measure rugs and stair runners which help to enhance warmth, comfort, and style while adding grip. They’re also helpful for concealing minor imperfections and protecting your new floor from scratches, stains, and spillages.
The Nottingham Carpet Edging company offer a standard carpet edging service, otherwise known as ‘carpet whipping’, which involves overlocking the edges of carpets with yarn to prevent them from fraying. Or you can choose from thousands of colours. Additionally, they offer what is called a taped finish, a thicker material edge only available in a selection of colours but, it can give an excellent final look.
We have a great relationship with the Nottingham Carpet Edging company, so much so, you can either take the carpet to them yourselves or simply get us to sort it for you.

Buying too small is the single most common rug mistake, and it is the one people regret. As a rule, a living room rug should be large enough that at least the front legs of your sofa and chairs sit on it — that visually ties the seating together instead of leaving the rug marooned in the middle of the floor. Under a dining table, the rug needs to extend far enough that chairs stay on it when pulled out, which usually means around 60cm clear on every side.
In a hallway, leave a consistent margin of floor showing on both sides rather than filling the width. Measure the space and bring the dimensions with you; it is much easier to advise properly with real numbers than with an estimate.
Wool rugs feel best underfoot, resist crushing, and hold their appearance for years, which is why they cost more. They suit living rooms and bedrooms where comfort matters most. Synthetic fibres such as polypropylene are more stain-resistant and easier to clean, making them the sensible choice for dining rooms, playrooms and anywhere with children or pets. Natural fibres like jute and sisal bring texture and work well in relaxed, informal rooms, though they are less forgiving of spills.
Whatever the material, use a rug underlay on hard flooring. It stops the rug creeping, adds cushioning, and prevents the backing marking the floor beneath — particularly worth doing over LVT or laminate.

Colour and texture are almost impossible to judge from a screen, and rugs in particular look markedly different under showroom lighting than they do in a catalogue.
