Carpet very rarely asks anything of the floor underneath, so a recarpet is normally just that. Luxury vinyl tile is the one that cares, because it needs a flat and sound base, and that is something we check at the measure rather than leave to fitting day.
How a floor is laid matters as much as what you choose. Our fitters are employed by us rather than subcontracted, which means consistent standards and real accountability.
Fitting includes moving your furniture and putting it back, lifting your old flooring and taking it away, and fitting grippers, underlay and trims. If doors need easing once the new carpet and underlay are down, we have an in-house joiner. Fitting is free on carpets over £20 per square metre, and some ranges include underlay, gripper and door bars in the price as well — see what is included when we fit your floor.
From order to fitted is typically two to three weeks, and we fit on Saturdays where that suits you better.

Do you have a showroom in Quarndon?
Not in the village itself, but our Duffield showroom on Meadow Vale is only a couple of miles away and you are welcome to visit. Many Quarndon customers find it easier to have us come to them — we bring samples to your home, measure at the same visit and quote from that. It is free and there is no obligation.
Do you charge for measuring?
No. The home measure is free and there is no obligation to order. Judging carpet colour in your own light beats a showroom strip light every time, so we would rather you saw samples at home before deciding.
Will you move the furniture and take up the old carpet?
Yes, both are part of the job. We move furniture, lift and dispose of your old flooring, and if doors need easing once the new carpet and underlay are down we have an in-house joiner to sort it.
My house is older and the floors are uneven. Is that a problem?
For carpet, almost never. Carpet and a good underlay sit happily over floorboards that are not perfectly flat, and in practice we very seldom have to prepare a room before carpeting it. Luxury vinyl tile is different, because it needs a flat and sound base, so if that is what you are after we will check the floor at the measure and tell you what is needed before anything is ordered.
