Every floor we sell is fitted by people employed by Carpet Style. Not booked in job by job, not a different crew each week, not a name from a list.
That matters more with hard flooring than it does with carpet. A carpet forgives a lot. LVT and laminate do not — the decisions that determine how the floor looks for the next fifteen years get made in the first ten minutes on site.
Our teams work on Karndean, Amtico, Invictus, SPC and laminate every week, and we are a Karndean Inspire Studio at all four showrooms, which means the ranges are set out together on a dedicated stand and the people selling them know them properly.
Worth knowing, because these are the things to ask any fitter about:
That last one is worth its own page, so we have written it up: what happens if your subfloor needs work, including the exact standard we prepare to and how it is charged.
LVT is the one product people most regret buying from a screen. The photograph flattens it: you cannot see the depth of the emboss, you cannot judge how the grain reads across a whole floor rather than one plank, and you certainly cannot tell how it will look against your own light.
All four showrooms carry it properly — Netherfield, Wollaton, Duffield and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Browse the ranges on our Karndean, LVT and laminate pages, then come and stand on it.
If you are having carpet instead, what is included when we fit your floor covers free fitting and the rest of the job.
Do you fit Karndean?
Yes, and we are a Karndean Inspire Studio at Netherfield, Wollaton, Duffield and Ashby-de-la-Zouch. Our own employed teams fit it.
Is fitting included on LVT and laminate?
LVT and laminate are quoted with fitting and standard subfloor preparation as a flat fee, so you see the full figure before you order. The free-fitting threshold applies to carpet rather than hard flooring.
Do you use subcontract fitters?
No. Our fitting teams are employed by Carpet Style, which is why the same people come back if anything needs attention afterwards.
Can you fit LVT I bought elsewhere?
No. If we have not supplied the product we cannot stand behind the finished floor. We are happy to supply without fitting if you have your own fitter.
How long does an LVT floor take to fit?
Longer than carpet, because the base has to be prepared first and in some cases given time to dry or settle before the floor goes down. We will give you the schedule at the home measure.
Can LVT go over underfloor heating?
Usually yes, within the temperature limits the manufacturer specifies. It is worth raising at the measure so we can check the specific range against your system rather than assuming.
Can you fit laminate in a kitchen or bathroom?
We would steer you toward LVT or SPC instead. Laminate has a fibreboard core and standing water is what kills it. LVT handles spills, mopping and muddy boots without complaint, which is why it has largely taken over those rooms.
