Most flooring retailers use self-employed fitters booked job by job. We do not. Our fitting teams are employed by Carpet Style, they are the same people week in week out, and they are the ones who have to come back if something is not right. That is the single biggest difference between us and a price on a comparison site.
It also means we can talk honestly about preparation. A subcontracted fitter paid per job has every incentive to lay the floor and move on. Ours will tell you if a subfloor needs levelling first, because the finish is ours to stand behind.
We have been supplying and fitting floors since 1981.
Our quotes are for a finished job, not just the floor covering. Fitting includes moving your furniture and putting it back, lifting your old flooring and taking it away, preparing the subfloor where needed, and fitting grippers, underlay and trims. If a new floor sits higher than the old one and a door needs easing, our in-house joiner can take care of it.
We fit carpet, LVT, laminate, vinyl and engineered wood. Stairs, landings and awkward room shapes are routine rather than an extra.
The measure is free and carries no obligation. We bring samples to you, measure properly, and the quote you get from that visit is the quote you pay.
Wondering what it will cost? Our guide to carpet fitting costs sets out typical prices per square metre, what a room usually comes to, and what makes one quote differ from another.
Whether you’re looking for the best carpets Nottingham has to offer or vinyl flooring for your busy household, you’re sure to find what you need at Carpet Style.
It depends on preparation more than anything, but as a rough guide: a bedroom is usually around an hour, a lounge between one and three hours depending on shape and how much furniture there is, and stairs and landing takes three to four hours. Stairs are always the slowest part of a job, because every tread is cut and fitted individually.
Most whole-house jobs are done in a day. If a subfloor needs levelling or ply first, that adds time and we will have told you at the measure.
Lead time from measure to fitting day is normally two to three weeks. If you need it sooner we can usually work something out, so it is worth asking rather than assuming. We fit on Saturdays where that suits you better.
Do you move furniture?
Yes. Beds and wardrobes are standard and we take them as part of the job. For anything else we work on fairness: if it can be moved we will move it, and if it genuinely cannot we will work around it. Tell us at the measure what is in the room and there will be no surprises on the day.
Do you take away the old carpet?
We can arrange uplift and disposal of your old flooring. Mention it at the measure and it will be included in your quote.
What if my doors catch on the new floor?
We have an in-house joiner, so doors can be eased or trimmed as part of the job. It is quoted separately per door, and we will flag at the measure whether we think it will be needed.
What happens if the subfloor is in poor condition?
If we can see it needs work at the measure, we quote for it then. Sometimes the condition only becomes clear once the old flooring is lifted, in which case we include a contingency rate in your quote so you know the cost in advance rather than finding out on the day.
How far in advance do I need to book?
Normally two to three weeks from measure to fitting day. We can often accommodate quicker turnarounds, so it is worth asking if you are working to a deadline.
Are your fitters employed or subcontracted?
Employed. Every fitting team works for Carpet Style rather than being booked in job by job, which is why we are comfortable talking about subfloor preparation and why the same people come back if anything needs attention.
